Interior Space Accessibility

Accessible Furniture

  • There is a handicapped desk on the north end of the Habush, Habush, and Rottier Reading Room on the 5th floor of the Law Library.

Reservable Study Rooms and Spaces

  • The Law Library has eight study rooms available for Law students to reserve for private study, virtual interviews, and small-group collaborations. Click to make a study room reservation here.
  • Law Library study rooms may only be reserved by Law students and require a WisCard to check out. For more information about our study rooms, visit our study rooms page.

Quiet Spaces

  • The Law Library is a dedicated quiet study space. It is not a “silent” study space, but talking and noise should be kept to a minimum and any phone calls or conversations need to be taken outside of the Library space.

Restrooms

  • There are restrooms with handicapped stalls located on the 5th, 3rd, and 1st floors of the Law Library. There are single-stall any gender restrooms available on the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th floors of the Law building. You are welcome to use the restroom that is most comfortable and appropriate for you.

Lactation and Baby Changing Space

  • There is a lactation room located in the Law School building, room 2374. It has a glider with footstool and a refrigerator. It is lockable and a key is needed for entry. Contact 608-263-4325 for access.
  • There is a baby changing space in the second floor single-use bathroom by the IT office (Room 2116).

Inaccessible Spaces

  • On the 6th floor of the Law Library (behind the mural- several offices are located there), there is a space inaccessible to wheelchairs. Those with offices in that space accommodate those in need by meeting in an accessible conference room.

Lighting

  • All library stacks on floors 1, 2, and 3 have motion-detecting lighting.
