Law.com Alerts and Newsletters

Law.com includes legal news and analysis from ALM publications, including American Lawyer, National Law Journal, and Supreme Court Brief. The Law Library’s subscription includes access to all content except Legal Week.

Law School students, faculty and staff can receive Law.com alerts and newsletters via email.

  • Alerts: New results from your saved searches
  • Newsletters: Latest news from Law.com publications or on specific subjects, compiled by Law.com editors

To set up Law.com alerts or newsletters:

  1. Contact Kris Turner or Katie Dunn to be added to the Law School’s Law.com account.
  2. After you’ve been added to the Law School’s Law.com account, go to Law.com and click on “Sign in” at upper right.  Enter your @wisc.edu email address and click “Proceed”, then click “Forgot password?” You should then receive a password reset email.
  3. Follow the link in the email to set up a password. (Do not use your UW NetID password.)
    1. Tip: If you will be accessing Law.com from your phone, you may want to set your password from your phone so that the password is saved in your phone’s browser.
  4. Go to Law.com and click on “Sign In” at upper right.
  5. Newsletters: After signing in, click on your initials at upper right, then click on “Newsletters” in the dropdown menu.
  6. Alerts: After signing in, search for a topic of interest and click the “Follow” button at the top of your results lists. Then click on your initials at upper right and click “Alerts” in the dropdown menu. Click the toggle to activate the Alert to receive emails on new results.  You can also change the frequency of your Alert emails, deactivate, or delete them in the Alerts menu.

When you receive your newsletters or alert emails, you may need to log in at Law.com with your email address and Law.com password to view the linked articles.
