This list is intended as a convenient
finding aid for the most asked-for documents. All U.S. government
publications distributed since mid-1976 are included in the
MadCat Library Catalog and should be available in at least one
campus library. Older publications can be located by using the
United States Monthly Catalog of Government Publications
(Ref Z 1223 A18).
Most call numbers are Superintendent of Documents classification
numbers. All call numbers listed in the guide may be clicked in
your web browser to find their location on the UW Law Library floor
maps.
Some government documents are available online through the Internet. If a document is available online, a link is provided. The amount of government information at these sites depends on what the agency has decided to make available. Because of this, some links may not contain the specific government document you are looking for. If a document, or category of documents, e.g. RULES, REGULATIONS, AND INSTRUCTIONS, is available online, the information posted may not correspond exactly with the actual print source. Some agencies also require third party software to view their documents, such as Adobe Acrobat. Such restrictions governing the access of these documents are detailed on each individual agency's web site.
If you cannot find the document you want listed in this guide or in the MadCat Library Catalog, please consult a reference librarian or the Documents Assistant (5th Floor, Room 5334; 262-2843).
