Civil Trial Advocacy

A Selective Bibliography

I. Works Covering
Multiple Aspects of Civil
Trial Advocacy

II. Forensic Oratory/Oral
Persuasion

III. Jury Selection
IV. Opening Statement   V. Presentation of &
Objections to Evidence

VI. Examination of Witnesses
VII. Motions   VII. Closing Arguments   IX. Jury Instructions

As with the Civil Trial Preparation bibliography, the massive amount of material published on this topic requires a certain degree of selectivity in order to enable the user to quickly survey and choose the more significant literature on the topic. Once again, emphasis is on general works and inclusion is mostly limited to books published or supplemented since 1990. Periodical articles are excluded in order to limit its length.

The first section following the Introduction lists works covering the entire trial or multiple phases of a trial. The second covers works on forensic oratory or oral persuasion, so important in all phases of trial work. Following this are sections arranged by particular phases or aspects of the trial.
